VenaSeal™ Closure Procedure
for Varicose Veins
Your exam will begin with a complete evaluation which will include ultrasound imaging. This is important for diagnosing the severity of your vein disease. From there, an individualized treatment plan will be created.
If VenaSeal™ is right you, your doctor will discuss the treatment with you. Here are a few things you can expect:
After a tiny injection of local anesthetic, a small flexible tube called a catheter will be inserted into the diseased vein. Using ultrasound for guidance during the procedure, the catheter will be positioned along the diseased vein. Through the tube, your doctor will place small drops of medical adhesive to close the vein. This “seals” the vein which stops the blood from pooling and causing pressure. When this happens, the blood flow is redirected to other, healthy veins.
After the procedure, all you’ll need is a small bandage. Because there was no heat and no anesthetic used around the vein, there’s no need to wear compression stockings after the procedure. You’ll be able to walk out after the treatment and resume normal activities.
