Dr. Grant Fankhauser is double board-certified in Vascular Surgery and General Surgery. He attended medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency as well as his vascular surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, where his care philosophy was shaped by a quote from one of the Mayo brothers— “The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered.”
He has taught surgery for many years and was an Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program and the Director of Quality Management at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. He has served as principal investigator on several clinical trials and has authored numerous scientific papers and book chapters on vascular surgery.
Dr. Fankhauser is happy to be treating patients back in Phoenix, where his journey into vascular surgery began. “It’s very gratifying to make a difference in a patient’s quality of life and see it happen so quickly. That’s one of the big benefits of doing minimally invasive procedures.”
Outside of work, Dr. Fankhauser enjoys traveling, golf, skiing, spending time with his children, and playing with his two English bulldogs.
